Malaria prevalence in Botswana is set to drop dramatically by 2026. In 2021, the country had 515 cases, but this is expected to fall by 50.4% per year on average. Since 2005, the number of cases has been declining at a rate of 6.4% annually. Botswana is currently ranked 72nd in the world for malaria prevalence, overtaken by Vanuatu at 515 cases. The countries with the highest prevalence are Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Mozambique, which ranked 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
