Child mortality in Brazil is projected to drop to 27,000 deaths by 2026, compared to the 39,000 deaths recorded in 2021. This is a 6.1% annual drop on average since 1965. Brazil currently ranks 27th in child mortality, Benin overtaking it at 39,000 deaths. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo make up the top three spots. Meanwhile, immunisation coverage for children aged 12-23 months is set to decrease to 67% by 2026, down from 74% in 2021, representing a 1.7 point annual average drop since 1985. Brazil is currently 165th in immunisation coverage, South Africa overtaking it at 74%. Greece, Mongolia and Latvia follow.
