Child mortality in China is set to drop significantly to 11,600 deaths in 2026, a decrease of 32.8% compared to 2021. The country has seen a 10.2% year-on-year decrease since 1979. Ethiopia ranks first with 100,560 deaths in 2021, followed by India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Immunisation coverage for children aged 12-23 months in China rose 1 point from 2020 to 2021, reaching 100%. This is a 0.2 point year-on-year increase since 1988. China came in first, with Malta in second place, followed by Greece, Mongolia and Latvia.
