Child mortality in Chile is projected to drop by 4% each year for the next five years, according to a recent study. In 2021, there were 1,480 deaths, which put Chile 100th in the global ranking, with East Timor ahead with 1,480 fatalities. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo followed in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively. Immunisation coverage among children aged 12-23 months in Chile is expected to increase by 0.2 points annually until 2026, the same study found. In 2021, the country was 56th in the ranking, with 96% of children vaccinated. The Dominican Republic topped the list with 96%, while Greece, Mongolia and Latvia came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively.
