Jamaica is expected to see a decline in child mortality over the next five years. The number of deaths is projected to drop from 593 in 2021 to 465 in 2026, a decrease of 4.1% year-on-year. Since 1965, the annual rate of decline has been 3.9%. The country ranked 118th in 2021, just behind the Netherlands at 593 deaths. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were second, third and fourth in the ranking, respectively. Jamaica's child immunisation coverage is also set to increase over the next five years. The number of children aged 12-23 months immunised is expected to rise from 97% in 2021 to 98% in 2026, an average growth of 0.2 points year-on-year. Since 1985, the annual rate of decline has been 0.4 points. The country ranked 45th in 2021, with Chile ahead at 97%. Greece, Mongolia and Latvia were second, third and fourth in the ranking, respectively.
