Child mortality in Somalia is set to decline by 400 deaths a year, from 72,180 in 2021 to 70,700 in 2026, according to a recent report. This figure represents an average annual decline of 0.4%, which is lower than the average 0.7% decline since 1994. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Immunisation coverage among children aged 12-23 months in Somalia is also set to grow, from 43% in 2021 to 44% in 2026, at an average rate of 0.5 points per year. This figure is higher than the average 0.5 points per year since 1986. In 2021, Somalia ranked 187th in the world for child immunisation coverage, with the Central African Republic coming ahead with 43%. Greece, Mongolia and Latvia ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
