Morocco is making progress in reducing child mortality and increasing immunisation coverage. In 2021, the country saw a 7.6% year-on-year decrease in child mortality, falling to 7,330 deaths from 11,600 in 2021. Since 1966, child mortality has decreased by 5.7% year-on-year. Morocco was ranked 52nd in the world, overtaken by Nepal with 11,600 deaths. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Morocco also saw an increase in immunisation coverage, with close to 100% of children aged 12-23 months being immunised in 2021. This is up from 99% in 2020, and since 1987, immunisation coverage has increased by 0.2 points year-on-year. Morocco ranked 1st in the world, followed by Latvia at 100%, Greece, Mongolia and Latvia at 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
