Child mortality in Montenegro has declined significantly in 2021, with 13 deaths per 1,000 live births, compared to 17 deaths in 2020. Since 1994, the rate has decreased by 13.6%. Montenegro ranked 181st in 2021, behind Luxembourg, which had 13 deaths per 1,000 live births. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. The child immunisation coverage rate in Montenegro is expected to drop slightly to 83% of children aged 12-23 months by 2026, from 85% in 2021. The rate has declined by 0.5 points on an annual basis since 2011. Montenegro ranked 142nd in 2021, behind Ecuador, which had an immunisation rate of 85%. Greece, Mongolia and Latvia ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
