Child mortality in Serbia is set to decrease significantly by 2026, according to a new study. In 2021, the rate of death for children aged under five was 413 out of every 1,000 births - the 126th highest rate in the world. This was higher than in Belgium, which had the highest rate, with 413 deaths per 1,000 births. India, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Serbian child immunisation coverage is also set to increase, reaching 99% of children aged 12-23 months by 2026. In 2021, 97% of children were immunised - the 45th highest rate in the world. This was higher than in Slovakia, which had the highest rate of 97%. Greece, Mongolia and Latvia were ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
