Iran's goat production is projected to drop by 3.3% per year over the next five years, according to the latest figures. This would take the total number of goats down to 1.1 million in 2026. Since 1966, the rate of decline in Iran has been 2.8% annually. In 2021, the country ranked 16th in terms of goat production, with 1.4 million heads. Burkina Faso overtook Iran, with 1.4 million heads. China, Nigeria and Pakistan took the top three spots in the rankings.
