South African propylene imports are set to reach around 8,000 kg in 2026, a decrease of 2.6% annually from the 2021 figure of 8,710 kg. Since 2005, demand has dropped by 12.4% year on year, with South Africa ranking 54th in 2021. Austria led the ranking with 8,710 kg, followed by Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively. In 2018, South African propylene exports fell sharply by 55.7% to 12,000 kg, compared to 27,090 kg in 2017. Since 2005, however, the country's supply increased by 2% annually. It was placed 37th in 2018, with the United Arab Emirates in the lead at 12,000 kg, followed by Japan, the Netherlands and the United States in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively.
