Maltese ABS exports are set to decline slightly, from 553 thousand kilograms in 2021 to 543 thousand kilograms by 2026. This marks a 0.6% drop year-on-year on average since 1999. In 2021, Malta was ranked 37th in the world, with Romania taking the lead at 553 thousand kilograms. Belgium, Malaysia and the Netherlands followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, Maltese ABS imports are projected to grow, from 5.8 million kilograms in 2021 to 6.6 million kilograms by 2026. This marks an average annual increase of 1.8% since 1999. Last year, Malta was ranked 42nd in the world, with South Africa taking the lead at 5.8 million kilograms. Germany, the United States and Thailand followed in second, third and fourth place respectively.
