However, the Danish vessel fleet is expected to shrink over the next few years. The fleet is set to decline to approximately 297,000 units by 2028, down from 319,000 units in 2023. This represents an annual decrease of 1.1% on average. Since 2002, the Danish supply of vessels has decreased at an average rate of 0.4% per year. In 2023, Denmark held the third position in fleet size, with Italy leading at 319,000 units. Italy, Denmark, and Croatia were the top three countries in fleet rankings, with Croatia coming in fourth.
