Bhutanese metal imports are expected to drop to 130th place by 2026. According to estimates, imports of 0.13 million metric tons in 2026 will be 1.9% lower than the current level of 0.14 million metric tons. This decreasing trend has been observed since 1998, when a 3.1% year-on-year fall was recorded. Suriname was the leading importer in 2021 with 0.14 million metric tons of metal imports, followed by Japan, South Korea, and Germany.
