Despite this upward trend, Slovak demand for metals has seen a historical decline, decreasing by 0.8% per year since 2003. In the latest rankings for 2023, Slovakia holds the 11th position globally. Austria surpassed Slovakia with 14.6 million metric tons of metal imports. Meanwhile, France, Italy, and Spain secured the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
