Ecuador has seen a substantial increase in its weapon imports, which nearly tripled from approximately $1 million in 2022 to around $2.7 million in 2023. This marks a significant growth of 166% year over year. Despite this sharp increase, Ecuador's demand for weapons has shown an overall decline of 12% annually since 1965. In the global rankings for weapon imports in 2023, Ecuador was placed 125th. The Republic of the Congo slightly outpaced Ecuador with similar imports valued at roughly $2.7 million. Leading the list were Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
