Bulgarian weapon imports surged dramatically in 2022, reaching $4 million, a significant increase from $1 million in 2021. This represents a 300% growth compared to the previous year. In the global ranking, Bulgaria held the 118th position in 2022, with Guatemala slightly ahead at $4 million. Leading the list were Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively. On the export side, Bulgarian weapon exports are projected to decline. By 2028, exports are anticipated to decrease to approximately $15.5 million, down from $17 million in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 1.5%. Despite this projected decline, Bulgarian weapon supply has shown a steady increase since 1991, growing at an average rate of 4.1% per year.
