In 2021, Saudi Arabia was the leading destination for Iranian exports, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Malaysia. Iran's import and export of weapons fell in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Imports of weapons to Iran dropped 33.3% from $3 million in 2019 to $2 million in 2020, making it the 124th largest importer of weapons in the world. Nigeria overtook Iran in the same ranking, with imports of $2 million. Saudi Arabia, Australia, and South Korea ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. On the other hand, Iranian weapons exports are projected to decrease 11.4% from $11.13 million in 2021 to $5.66 million in 2026. Since 1967, Iranian exports have grown an average of 17.4% year-over-year. In 2021, Saudi Arabia was the largest destination for Iranian weapons exports, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Malaysia.
