Italian ammunition imports dropped by 36% in 2021 compared to the previous year, totaling nearly 109,000 kilograms. This made Italy the 27th largest importer of ammunition in the world, with Cameroon in the lead and Slovakia, France and Spain following in second, third and fourth place respectively. On the other hand, Italian ammunition exports are expected to fall by nearly 30% between 2021 and 2026, from 247,000 kilograms to 37,000 kilograms. This would represent a 16% decrease since 1999.
