Since 1975, demand for bioenergy in the African nation has gone up 2.1% on average year-on-year. It held the 61st spot in the rankings in 2021, falling behind Venezuela, which consumed 53.3 million metric tonnes. India, Brazil and the US were the top three countries in the rankings.
