Colombia's bioenergy consumption is on the rise. In 2021, the country consumed 131.13 million metric tons of bioenergy, up 0.7% from the previous year. Since 1975, the demand has grown by an average of 1.7% year on year. Colombia ranked 33rd in the world in 2021, behind Italy at 131.13 million metric tons. India, Brazil and the United States were the next highest consumers, in second, third and fourth place respectively. By 2026, Colombia's bioenergy consumption is expected to reach 135.38 million metric tons.
