Since 1975, Sri Lanka's demand for bioenergy has grown by an average of 1.6% per year. In 2021, the country was ranked 86th in the world, overtaken by Rwanda at 34.2 million metric tons. India, Brazil and the United States were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
