Namibia is set to become a major copper importer and exporter by 2026. Copper imports are predicted to hit nearly $1.5 billion in 2026, a 4.7% average year-on-year growth since 2021. The country saw an impressive 31% year-on-year growth in demand since 2005, and ranked 24th in the world in 2021. The Czech Republic came ahead in 2021, while Germany, the United States and Italy were the top three importers respectively. On the other side of the coin, Namibia is also set to become a major copper exporter. Copper exports are projected to reach almost $2 billion in 2026, a 4.5% average year-on-year growth since 2021. The country recorded a 31.5% year-on-year surge in supply since 2005, and ranked 30th in the world in 2021. Austria came in first in 2021, followed by Germany, the United States and Japan.
