Romania saw an unprecedented rise in coking coal imports in 2020. The country imported 12.7 thousand metric tons of the mineral, a 605% increase compared to the 1.8 thousand metric tons imported in 2019. Over the past 25 years, Romania's coking coal demand has decreased by 1.9% annually. In 2020, Romania ranked 17th in coking coal imports. Spain topped the list with 12.7 thousand metric tons, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, and France.
