Portuguese egg consumption is forecast to reach 120,000 metric tons by 2026. This represents an annual growth rate of 1.1% since 2021, when the country consumed 111,000 metric tons. This is a slower rate of growth than in 2017, when Portuguese demand increased by 0.6% year on year. In 2021, Portugal was ranked 54th in the world for egg consumption. The Dominican Republic ranked one spot ahead, consuming 111,000 metric tons. The United States, India and Japan were the top three egg-consuming countries in the world, respectively.
