France is facing an increasing death rate due to the flu, with an expected 1,200 deaths by 2026. In 2021, the death rate was 1,060, a 1.9% increase from the year before. Since 1965, the demand for French flu-related deaths has grown by 7.3% each year. In 2021, France was the seventh-highest ranking country, just behind the Netherlands, which at 1,060 deaths, had overtaken France. Japan, Germany and Canada followed in the rankings at numbers 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
