Kazakhstan is set to become one of the world’s leading phosphate exporters in the coming years. Exports of the mineral are expected to reach $61 million by 2026, a 3.5% increase from the $50 million seen in 2021. In 2006, the country reported a 5.4% average annual increase in supply. In 2021, Kazakhstan held the eighth spot in global rankings, with Algeria coming in first at $49 million. Jordan, Russia, and Peru followed in the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. Demand for Kazakhstani phosphate, however, has been on the decline since 2006. In 2018, the country ranked 91st, with Barbados coming in first at $5 million. The United States, Indonesia, and Lithuania occupied the second, third, and fourth spots.
