Icelander phosphate imports totalled $346 million in 2018, a decrease of 31.4% from the $504 million imported in 2017. This marks an even steeper drop from 1993 when the country imported $554 million in phosphate, meaning imports have declined 37.2% over the last 25 years. Last year, Azerbaijan overtook Iceland as the 101st biggest global importer of phosphate, bringing in $346 million. The United States, Indonesia and Lithuania placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the phosphate importing rankings.
