Kenyan imports of lithium more than quintupled in 2018, from 11 kilograms to 78 kilograms. This was a 609% increase from the year before. Since 2007, demand for lithium in Kenya has risen 139% every year. In 2018, the country was ranked 72nd for lithium imports, lagging behind Barbados which imported 78 kilograms. China, Japan and the US took the top three spots, respectively.
