Canada is set to see its imports of lithium decrease by 0.6% year on year by 2026, from 1,102,200 kilograms in 2021. This would be an average rate of growth since 1994, when it rose by 7.3% year on year. Canada ranked 11th in 2021, while Germany led the way with 1.1 million kilograms. China, Japan and the United States were second, third and fourth respectively. Canada's exports of lithium experienced an astronomical surge in 2019, with 13,530 kilograms compared to just 49 kilograms in 2018, an increase of 27,520%. Since 1998, Canadian supply has dropped by 44.2% year on year. Last year, Canada was 25th in the rankings, while Ireland overtook it with 13,530 kilograms. Argentina, Belgium and China were second, third and fourth respectively.
