Lithium imports to South Africa fell by almost 19% in 2021, down to 30,300 kilograms from 37,280 kilograms in 2020. This marks a 24.1% decrease since 2005. Greece was the top importer, followed by China, Japan and the US. Meanwhile, exports of lithium from South Africa are expected to reach 51,450 kilograms by 2026, up from 38,720 kilograms in 2021. This represents a 61.4% increase from 2005. Denmark was the top exporter, followed by Argentina, Belgium and China.
