Malaysia's lithium imports are set to grow 2.4% a year to 698,340 kilograms by 2026, up from 609,030 kilograms in 2021. Since 1994, demand has grown 57% a year. In 2021, Malaysia was the 14th largest importer of lithium, overtaken by Italy at 609,030 kilograms. China, Japan and the US were the next three biggest importers. Since 2012, Malaysian lithium supply has fallen 31.6% a year. In 2018, Malaysia was the 40th biggest supplier, overtaken by Slovakia at 150 kilograms. Argentina, Belgium and China were the next three biggest suppliers.
