Japan's graphite exports are expected to plunge 17.5% year-on-year to around $2.4 million by 2026, according to a recent report. In 2021, the country was in eighth place with exports of $7.0 million. This marks a 14.3% decrease from 1993. The Netherlands overtook Japan to become the highest exporter in 2021 with exports of $7.0 million. Brazil, Germany and the United States followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. Meanwhile, Japan's graphite imports are projected to rise 2% year-on-year to approximately $128.7 million by 2026. In 2021, Japanese demand for graphite was $114.2 million, which is 6.9% higher than 1993. South Korea, the United States and Germany placed second, third and fourth in the ranking respectively.
