Indonesia's graphite imports are projected to drop by 0.8% annually until 2026, when they will total $3 million. Malaysia overtook the country in 2021, with imports of $3.2 million. South Korea, the US, and Germany ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Indonesia's graphite exports skyrocketed 148.7% between 2016 and 2017, reaching $35 million. This 107.6% year-on-year increase since 1998 placed the country 21st in the graphite exporter ranking by 2021. China was the top exporter with $3.2 million, followed by South Korea and the United States.
