Malta’s imports of limestone are expected to plummet by 8.8% annually over the next five years, from 12,620 Kilograms in 2021 to 7,530 Kilograms by 2026. Since 2001, Maltese demand for the material has dropped 8.6% annually on average. In 2018, Malta came in at 68th place in terms of limestone imports, with Madagascar ahead at 50 Kilograms. India, Oman and Malaysia were ranked second, third, and fourth respectively.
