Colombia's imports of silica sand are set to plunge by 51.2% year on year, from 3.3 million kilograms in 2021 to just under 78,000 kilograms by 2026. This marks an average decrease of 5.4% year on year since 1996. In 2021, Colombia ranked 69th in the world for imports, with the Maldives topping the list at 3.3 million kilograms. Slovenia, Singapore and Belgium ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Exports of Colombian silica sand have also decreased, with a 55.6% drop from 427,770 kilograms in 2017 to 189,760 in 2018. This marks an average decrease of 2.9% year on year since 1996. In 2018, Colombia was ranked 70th in the world, with Panama ahead at 189,760 kilograms. The United States, Belgium and Germany held the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots respectively.
