Ecuador is set to see a rise in silica sand import and export over the next five years. In 2021, the country imported 1,349,000 kilograms of silica sand and ranked 83rd in the world. Mozambique came out on top with 1,587,700 kilograms, while Slovenia, Singapore and Belgium took the next three spots. Meanwhile, Ecuador exported 117,150 kilograms of silica sand in 2021, placing it 72nd globally. Bahrain was the leading exporter, followed by the US, Belgium and Germany. On average, imports are expected to grow at a rate of 2.7% year-on-year, while exports will rise by 2.6% annually. Since 1996, the country's demand for silica sand has increased 6.3% every year, while exports have risen 13.2% annually since 2012.
