Exports of Salvadoran silica sand decreased by 5% in 2021, to around 4,000 kilograms, down from 4,200 kilograms in 2020. Since 2000, supply has grown 18% year-on-year. This placed the country 88th in the world ranking in 2021, with Samoa ahead of it at 4,000 kilograms. The United States, Belgium and Germany ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Imports of Salvadoran silica sand are projected to reach 2.1 million kilograms by 2026, from 1.9 million kilograms in 2021, growing at an average rate of 2.3% year-on-year. Since 1999, demand has increased by 15%. In 2021, the country ranked 76th, with Honduras taking the lead at 1.9 million kilograms. Slovenia, Singapore and Belgium were ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
