Exports of silica sand from Malaysia are projected to dip slightly to 310 million kg in 2026 from 342 million kg in 2021. This represents a 1.5% average annual decrease since 1994, when exports were at 7.3% lower than in 2021. In 2021, the Netherlands was in first place with 342 million kg, while the US, Belgium and Germany ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Imports of silica sand to Malaysia are estimated to drop marginally to 44 million kg in 2026 from 45 million kg in 2021. This equates to an average annual decrease of 0.3% since 1994, when imports were 0.7% less than in 2021. Algeria led the rankings in 2021 with 45 million kg, followed by Slovenia, Singapore and Belgium.
