In 2023, Germany led the European bioenergy transformation output with a marginal increase of 0.13%, reaching a value of 106.77 thousand Gigawatthours. Sweden and France followed with 2.14% and 1.93% increases, respectively. The United Kingdom and Denmark showed notable growth at 5.51% and 7.68%, indicating accelerating bioenergy adoption. The Netherlands exhibited the highest year-on-year growth at 17.72%, pushing its output to 37.22 thousand Gigawatthours. On the opposite end, smaller countries like Malta, Moldova, and Montenegro saw growth rates of 5.71%, 1.51%, and 19.87%, respectively, but still contribute marginally to the overall European bioenergy output.

Furthermore, Eastern European nations like Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria recorded significant increases of 6.51%, 10.27%, and 12.05%, respectively, emphasizing the region's growing emphasis on bioenergy. Luxembourg emerged as a standout performer with a 26.11% growth rate.

Future trends to watch include the continued expansion in the Netherlands and Eastern Europe, driven by increased governmental support and technological advancements.
