European Phosphate Fertilisers Consumption by Country

In 2024, Spain leads the European phosphate fertiliser consumption with 435.28 thousand metric tons, but experienced a slight -0.55% decrease from 2023. Romania, at 341.2 thousand metric tons, saw a positive growth of 3.69%. France (339.94 thousand metric tons) slightly declined by -2.87%, while Poland's consumption (334.77 thousand metric tons) dropped by -0.51%. Germany (181.77 thousand metric tons) and the United Kingdom (165.53 thousand metric tons) exhibited declines of -2.94% and -2.28% respectively. Italy, at 138.31 thousand metric tons, saw a significant decrease of -3.32%, in contrast to Ireland's 103.41 thousand metric tons which rose by 1.25%. Significant increases were observed in Bulgaria (88.61, up 3.42%), Hungary (86.04, up 1.66%), Lithuania (57.08, up 2.04%), and especially Latvia (42.2, up 6.97%) and Estonia (14.5, up 5.23%). Countries like Greece, Italy, Austria, Finland, and the Netherlands showed a declining trend, with the Netherlands (-9.23%) showing the highest decrease. Cyprus recorded the lowest consumption at 1.97 thousand metric tons with a -1.8% decrease. Notable percentage increases were observed in Latvia, Estonia, and Romania.
