Global demand for silica sand is set to reach 27 billion kilograms by 2026, growing at an average of 1.4% each year from 2021. This is up from 25 billion kilograms in 2021 and a 5.9% increase since 2017. The United Arab Emirates was the largest importer of silica sand in 2021 at 6.5 billion kilograms. Slovenia, Singapore and Belgium were the next largest importers. Brunei saw a 282% increase from 2017 to 2021, while Japan experienced a 75% decrease over the same period. Global silica sand exports are expected to reach 17.7 billion kilograms by 2026, growing at an average rate of 0.3% each year from 2021. This is up from 17.3 billion kilograms in 2021 and a 1.7% increase since 2017. Slovenia was the largest exporter of silica sand in 2021 at 7.6 billion kilograms. The United States, Belgium and Germany were the next largest exporters. The Philippines saw a 2,420% increase from 2017 to 2021, while Japan experienced a 79% decrease over the same period.
