Global air passenger traffic is expected to reach 2.6 billion people by 2026, up from 1.96 billion in 2021. This represents a decrease of 1.1% year-on-year on average since 1975. China topped the list with 457.97 million passengers in 2021, followed by the United States, India and Ireland. Senegal saw a rise of 89% year-on-year, while Estonia suffered a 73% decrease since 1975. Global airline revenue is projected to reach $113.9 billion by 2026, down 0.9% year-on-year from 2021’s figure of $109.6 billion. Since 2017, there has been a 2.5% year-on-year decrease. The United States led the market with $30.8 billion in 2021, trailed by Germany, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Estonia saw a 22% year-on-year increase, while Brazil dropped 25% since 2017.
