Tanzanian pigment imports are projected to reach approximately 1.31 million kilograms by 2028, up from about 1.05 million kilograms in 2023. This growth represents an average annual increase of 3.5%. Since 2000, the demand for pigments in Tanzania has been rising steadily at an annual rate of 5.9%. In contrast, Tanzanian pigment exports have seen a significant decline. In 2023, the country exported around 1,940 kilograms, a sharp drop from the 3,320 kilograms exported in 2022. This marks a 41.6% decrease compared to the previous year. Over the longer term, since 2010, Tanzania's pigment exports have fallen by an average of 28.8% annually. In the global context, Tanzania ranked 62nd in pigment exports in 2023. Uganda edged out Tanzania with an export volume of 1,940 kilograms. Leading the global pigment export rankings were Germany, Saudi Arabia, and China, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots respectively.
