New Caledonia's pigment export industry is on a sharp decline. Projections indicate that by 2028, the territory's pigment exports will plummet to approximately 0.03 kilograms, a stark drop from the 9 kilograms recorded in 2023. This represents a steep annual decrease of nearly 67%. Since 2008, New Caledonia's pigment supply has been consistently dwindling, with an average annual reduction of about 13%. In contrast, the island's pigment imports are on an upward trajectory. By 2028, imports are expected to reach around 45,060 kilograms, up from 43,200 kilograms in 2023. This marks a modest annual growth rate of 0.7%. Since 2004, New Caledonia's demand for pigments has been gradually increasing, with a year-on-year rise of about 1%.
