Uganda's consumption of pesticides is set to remain steady over the next five years, according to a recent report. In 2021, the country consumed 88 metric tons of pesticides, the same figure as in 2021, with no change in the compound annual growth rate. This figure has been generally stable since 1995. In 2021, Uganda was ranked 122nd in the world for pesticide consumption, with Ivory Coast ahead at 88 metric tons. The United States, Brazil and Argentina were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. In 2018, Uganda was ranked 55th, with South Africa ahead at 0.08 metric tons. Thailand, Germany and Taiwan were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
