Global pesticide consumption is expected to reach 4.4 million metric tons by 2026, up from 4.2 million in 2021. This is an increase of 0.5% each year since 1995. China is the largest consumer of pesticides, with 1.8 million metric tons in 2021. The United States, Brazil and Argentina followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively. Tonga saw a 21.7% increase year on year, while Mali decreased by 100% since 1995. Global pesticide imports are forecast to reach 2.8 million metric tons by 2026, compared to 2.5 million in 2021. This is an annual growth rate of 2.4% since 2016. India is the leading importer of pesticides, with 709,050 metric tons in 2021. Thailand, Germany and Taiwan followed in second, third and fourth place, respectively. The United Kingdom saw a 203.4% year on year increase, while Finland fell by 79% since 2016.
