Kenya has made significant progress in the fight against HIV and AIDS. In 2021, the country had a 90 percent coverage of persons living with HIV, up from 86 percent in 2020 – an increase of 4.7 points compared to the previous year. Since 2009, the market has grown by 4.6 points annually. Kenya was the 12th highest ranked country in 2021, with Nigeria coming in at number one with 90 percent coverage. Cape Verde, Latvia and Zimbabwe ranked second, third and fourth respectively. The demand for HIV and AIDS treatment among people aged 0-14 in Kenya is expected to fall to 47,750 units in 2026, down 8.1 percent on 2021's figure of 76,810 units. Since 1995, the market has declined by 8.5 percent annually. The country was the eighth highest ranked in 2021, with Zambia coming in at number one. Nigeria, Mozambique and Tanzania were the second, third and fourth highest ranked countries, respectively.
