Japan is making great strides in HIV/AIDS treatment coverage. By 2026, 97% of people living with HIV will receive treatment, a significant jump from the 87% recorded in 2021. Since 2005, coverage has increased by an average of 2.2 points each year. In 2021, Japan was 19th in the global ranking, with Algeria in first place with 87%. Cape Verde, Latvia and Zimbabwe came in at second, third and fourth respectively.
