Nicaragua is set to see an increase in HIV/AIDS treatment coverage, from 53 percent of people living with the virus in 2021 to 65 percent by 2026. The country has grown 6.3 points since 2009, and is ranked 100th in the world. The Dominican Republic is the highest ranked country at 53 percent, while Cape Verde, Latvia and Zimbabwe are second, third and fourth. The prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Nicaragua is also expected to increase, from 509 units (persons) aged 0-14 in 2021 to 536 units by 2026. Since 1995, the number has grown by 0.4 percent year on year. Nicaragua is 82nd in the world, while Kyrgyzstan is first, followed by Nigeria, Mozambique and Tanzania.
